CHEATSHEET

I want to show people that amazing resources exist, and they are capable of taking advantage of them. You are capable of more than you think.

General Guidance

For inspiration and forming of your taste- look further than what's right in front of you. If you don't know where to look, start by looking into the names of famous artists or designers you may have heard of, like Andy Warhol, Alexander McQueen, Dieter Rams, Paula Scher, Banksy, Van Gogh, etc. Understand their thinking, motivation, and vision.

As you learn more your taste will elevate, and in turn your work will as well.

It's okay to start by copying and stealing

Through copying or stealing from another artist, you learn more about what you like or don't like, and why.

Focusing on creating in quantity and learning about other artists will help immensely with forming your taste.

How to use social media as a tool

If you want to use social media to grow your platform, you have to understand the rules. Growth on instagram and tiktok is all about SHAREABILITY. Unfortunately this may result in some compromises with how you might ideally want to present your creations. Remember to not compromise too much. One way to do this is to have a few "wow factor" aspects of an image that are surprising and stand out. Again, you can steal ideas or ways of thinking from other people. Tiktoks and reels should have a clear immediate subject, with 0 seconds wasted, but don't reveal all of the information until the end. Also, concrete backdrops statistically get more engagement on average.
